• Assessing English Language Learners for Special Education: Legal and Practice Matters

    The Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandates nondiscriminatory assessment practices for children of culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) backgrounds. This becomes particularly important when working with students that are identified as English Language Learners (ELLs). This workshop will review the relevant elements and procedures involved in assessing ELLs. This presentation will cover legal, linguistic, and eligibility matters that are relevant in Special Education decision making processes.
