• Powerful Non-Defensive Communication

Live from the Every Child Counts Symposium, join this amazing event session. Avoiding defensiveness and power struggles improves the quality of human interaction. Getting at the heart of an issue quickly is an experiential workshop. We will examine how to ask questions that can defuse defensiveness, so others are more likely to engage in constructive problem solving conversations. We will focus on making key changes in (a) intention, (b) voice tone, (c) body language, and (d) some aspects of phrasing. Next we will work with three formats for asking questions that get at the heart of an issue quickly. The skills can be used immediately and are invaluable for school administrators in interactions with teachers, other school staff, professionals providing special services for students, other district and state administrators, and those in organizations with oversight of the schools.
